Research

Our research is the foundation upon which the Lab is built. We strive to understand the causes and consequences relating to the distribution and abundance of North American birds. We look at survival and breeding success of cavity-nesting species and forest birds of conservation concern. Our work in the area of animal sounds has made us world leaders in whale and elephant communication and population monitoring. Results of Lab research are published in the scientific literature and made available for a wide variety of scientific, education, and conservation purposes.
