Special Library Services

by ploneadmin last modified 2008-11-26 16:58

The Adelson Library staff are willing to consider new special services as needed. If you have a need that is not being met please don't hesitate to ask the librarian for assistance.

Library-to-Library Book Delivery
Library-to-Library Book Delivery is a service for Cornell-affiliated patrons. Patrons can request that a book be shipped from one library to a library of their choosing for more convenient pick-up. Requests are made electronically using the CU Library Catalog. Deliveries to and from the Adelson Library take place on Tuesday and Thursday only. If you have an information emergency please don't hesitate to ask the librarian for a special delivery.  Click here for more information on Library-to-Library Book Delivery or to make a request.

Document Delivery
Cornell-affiliated patrons may request electronic delivery of journal articles and book chapters owned by Cornell libraries. Delivery from the Adelson Library to other Cornell University Libraries is free. If you have an office at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology electronic delivery to you is free from all Cornell University Libraries. Click here for more information on Document Delivery or to make a request.

Borrow Direct
Borrow Direct enables Cornell faculty, staff and students to search the combined library catalogs of Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton and Yale, a collection of over 40 million volumes, and directly request expedited free delivery of circulating items. Click here for more information or to make a Borrow Direct request. You will need the number from your Cornell ID card to login.

Interlibrary Loan
You can request books, newspapers, journals or journal articles that are not owned by any Cornell University Library. There is no fee for this service. Click here to request an interlibrary loan or to learn more.

Study space
With the permission of the librarian, library visitors are allowed to set asside research materials from day to day in a designated study area.

Your librarian makes office visits
In the event that you find you do not understand how to use a database or a computer program, remember, the librarian makes office visits. When starting a new project, please consider a consultation with the librarian.
