Monthly Theme for May
The monthly theme we’ve chosen for May in Adelson Library is Bird Song. We have a number of outstanding examples of both academic scholarship and popular writing that cover this area, and they are a mix of printed books, audio books, and CDs.
There are some really engaging works within this theme. Our selections include: Aaaaw to zzzzzd: the Words of Birds: North America, Britain, and Northern Europe by John Bevis; Bird Songs from Around the World by Les Beletsky; The Neuroscience of Birdsong by H. Philip Ziegler and Peter Marler; Birdsong by Madeleine Floyd (there’s some very nice watercolor artwork in this one); and Birding by Ear: a Guide to Bird-song Identification: Eastern by Richard K. Walton and Robert W. Lawson (one of the many high-quality audio CDs in our collection). Short summaries/reviews of each of these books are part of the display.
We hope you’ll stop by sometime this month to see these selections - our normal hours are 10:00AM to 12:00PM and 1:00PM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday.
