The Raven Sound Studio
This studio is an accurate reproduction of the sound studios used by the audio archivists in Macaulay Library. Inside you'll find an interactive exhibit developed by our Bioacoustics Research Program that allows you to investigate sounds using some of the same tools developed by scientists to understand how animals communicate.

The Raven Sound Studio uses two
flatscreen monitors to display visual information
about sounds using spectrograms, and natural history information about
the chosen
species. Choose from over 50 recordings of birds, mammals,
insects, and musical
instruments that demonstrate aurally and graphically the diversity of
sound in the
natural world. Sounds can be sped up and slowed down, and you can
even record and
play back your own voice!
The Raven Sound Studio is active and prolonged engagement with
scientific content-
and it's fun!
