Conservation and Bird Population Studies

Our Bird Population Studies (BPS) program conducts research that seeks to understand how the distribution and abundance of birds varies through time and space. Currently, two very active areas of research are the effects of disease on bird populations, and causes of variation in nesting success of birds from north to south through North America. Much of this work involves analysis of data collected by the Lab's citizen scientists. BPS scientists publish their findings in peer-reviewed journals and present their findings at scientific meetings throughout the world. Learn more about what BPS does.
