Figure 3. Pine Siskins tend to irrupt on opposite sides of the continent in alternate years. This past winter, FeederWatchers in the East had their turn to host them at feeders. The red areas in the map above show that the greatest increase in abundance during the past two winters occurred in regions along the eastern seaboard and in the East Central region (see Table 3 for details).
