How a Special Gift Can Help

Lab members and friends generously provide most of our annual operating budget, but we also have a wish list for special projects. To sponsor a project or for more information, please contact Scott Sutcliffe at (607) 254-2424 or sas10@cornell.edu.

Sponsor a Big Year audio-visual expedition to a target location for rare recordings (see the "Big Year" article in this issue of BirdScope). Our Macaulay Library teams will be visiting St. Lazaria Island, Alaska; Newfoundland, Canada; and the prairie pothole region of the northern Great Plains. We'll send you pictures—$10,000.

Provide full funding for an undergraduate's summer research at the Lab of Ornithology. The Lab attracts many worthy students, from all walks of life, but has little funding to support them for summer research—$6,000.

Support an undergraduate research project like Jacob Barnett's (see the article about his project in Costa Rica) White-ruffed Manakin 6). Our students are plenty motivated but underfunded. A gift will provide the means for a worthy student—$800.

Help the Adelson Library serve staff, students, and visitors at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Provide the funds for a one-year subscription to one of many bird study and conservation journals—$500.

• Our Education staff have developed colorful BirdSleuth Game Cards for 36 species of North American birds. These wonderfully helpful teaching cards will be used by classroom students from coast to coast. A gift will help defray the cost of providing Birdsleuth Flash Cards to students—Any amount.
