How a Special Gift Can Help

Greg Budney, training biologists for biodiversity monitoring in the Caribbean

Eduardo Iñigo-Elias

Lab members and friends generously provide most of our annual operating budget, but we also have a wish list for special projects. To sponsor a project or for more information, contact Scott Sutcliffe at (607) 254-2424 or email sas10@cornell.edu.

Provide support for collaborations with BirdLife’s South America Preventing Extinctions Program. BirdLife is developing conservation programs for every critically endangered bird species in South America. Your gift would fund one of nine species listed as critically endangered, allowing scientists to conduct basic inventory work, monitor and determine the birds’ status, and identify critical habitats. You could select the species from a list, or we could direct the funds through the South American organization, Armonia, to the most needy species.

$5,000

Facilitate our scientists’ participation in a “conservation summit”in Colombia. The scientist will help develop a conservation plan for wintering Neotropical migrants and teach a training course for Latin American biologists, organized by our partner, ProAves Colombia. A gift for this project would be matched by funds from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.

$5,000

Sponsor an expedition. Our recordists target prime habitats throughout the Americas for birdsong and video projects, in Newfoundland, Alaska, and beyond. Sponsor an expedition to benefit birds and conservation.

$8,000

Fund a NestCam. Help thousands of people learn about the nesting behavior of birds by sponsoring a NestCam. NestCams use real-time Internet technology to provide intimate views of nesting birds, providing valuable insights into their breeding biology.

$5,000

Provide funds for a display cabinet in the Adelson Library. Our library is home to a first-rate collection of books and periodicals, but the periodicals are languishing in a dilapidated cabinet without your help.

$3,000

Provide sunflower seed packets for “Celebrate Urban Birds!”kits, to be distributed around the country.

$2,500
