Directions to Lab

From Ithaca:
Take Route 13 north. Turn right at the light onto Warren Road. At the four-way stop, turn left onto Hanshaw. Continue 0.8 miles, turn left on Sapsucker Woods Road, follow to the end. Follow signs to the visitor parking area.

From Syracuse:
Take Route 81 south to exit 12, follow Route 281 south to Route 13 south. Stay on Route 13 south through Dryden, following signs to Ithaca. From NYSEG (on your left) continue on Route 13, 1.3 miles to street light. Turn left onto Hanshaw Rd., follow to the stop sign, turn right, continuing on Hanshaw. Follow Hanshaw past SPCA & Ludgate Farms. Turn right onto Sapsucker Woods Road, follow to the end. Follow signs to the visitor parking area.

From Cornell University:
Take Warren Road north from Forest Home. Turn right at the four-way stop onto Hanshaw Road. Continue 0.8 miles, turn left onto Sapsucker Woods Road, follow to the end. Follow signs to the visitor parking area.

Visitor Center Hours

Monday-Thursday: 8:00-5:00

Friday: 8:00-4:00

Saturday: 9:30-4:00

Sunday: 11:00-4:00

Trails are open 365 days a year.

No dogs or bikes on trails, please. The Visitors' Center is wheelchair accessible but the sanctuary trails are not, because of the wood chips and raised boardwalks.

The Visitors' Center is closed Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, December 26, New Year's Day, and January 2. On Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, the day after Thanksgiving, and December 27-31, the Visitors' Center will be open from 10 A.M. - 4 P.M. (Sunday hours remain 11-4.) Hours may change in response to special events.

Located just minutes away from the Imogene Powers Johnson Center for Birds and Biodiversity and the 220-acre Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary, the Courtyard by Marriott offers Lab visitors a special reduced rate of $125.00 per night. Complimentary shuttle service is available to and from the Lab by appointment on the hour. The Courtyard by Marriott shuttle runs from 7 am to 6 pm, so the shuttle will be able to get you on the trails to view the early birds!
