Songs and flight calls recorded on 27 May 2005

Town of Caroline, Tompkins Co., New York - description:These examples were taken from an 11 minute recording of a single male blackburnian warbler. The male was singing along the border of an old field in an ash tree approximately 20 feet above the ground.

Example 1: Description of recording: Near the end of the 11 minute recording, the bird flew to the top of a tree. It then gave one "buzzy zeee" flight note (Dunn and Garrett Warblers 1997), sang one "accented ending" song (Morse Birds of North America Online 2004), and gave 2 flight notes in quick succession (250 msec apart). Then it flew away. In sequence, other birds heard during the recording include: tufted titmouse, Nashville warbler, common yellowthroat, ovenbird, blue-winged warbler, veery, and prairie warbler.
