Louisiana Waterthrush (Seiurus motacilla)
Observed Flight Calls
Date- 28 May 2006 Time- 0745-0830 Location- Danby State Forest, Caroline, Tompkins Co. New York (42.31379 -76.31395)
Notes: At least 2 Louisana Waterthrush were found near a stream in a wooded area. The birds were flying along the stream bed, and occasionally interacted. The interactions appeared to be one bird feeding the other. Only once during the 45 minutes of recording did either bird sing. The most frequent vocalization was the "chick" contact call. On 2 occasions did I hear and record their flight call.
Example 1: Contact call followed by the flight call.
Example 2: Zoom of the flight call (above)
Example 3: Call Note and Flight Call
