Anyone can monitor nests - it's a rewarding way to spend time outdoors and participate in science.

NestWatch is a continentwide citizen-science project and nest-monitoring database of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, funded by the National Science Foundation and developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center.

Call for 2008 paper data
2008 NestWatch data can be entered up to Dec. 22nd. Please enter data by the deadline. The database will reopen for 2009 data in early January. Having trouble entering data? Please see the full news note for further instructions: Send us your data.

Fall is the BEST time to find old nests
Now is a great time to find nests you may have missed this past spring. Knowing where birds nested in 2008 is a great clue to help you find nests in spring 2009. So get outside this fall, look for nests, and note their locations. Image by Katie Savalchak.
