BirdSleuth Ambassadors

Please consider sharing your interest in BirdSleuth with your local community!

We need BirdSleuth Ambassadors to:

1. Offer Professional Development Workshops to Educators

Teacher professional development workshops really help educators get the most out of BirdSleuth and citizen science!

Jen at York UJennifer Fee, BirdSleuth Project Leader, explains why BirdSleuth Ambassadors are so important: “When I do a BirdSleuth teacher professional development workshop, I find that teachers are amazed at how easy it is to do citizen science in their classrooms.  When I show them how a global database like eBird can help them teach math, science, and technology skills to their students—they can’t wait to try it!  I really want to be able to offer BirdSleuth workshops in new localities. That personal support, and just showing others how easy citizen science is, seems key to success.”

To fulfill this role, you should be quite familiar with BirdSleuth and citizen science. Preferably, you should have the curriculum and have used the materials with your students, so you can share your experience! We will provide you with the tools you'll need to offer a teacher professional development workshop in your area, including:

  • Support and advice about planning and funding a workshop
  • PowerPoint shows
  • Customizable flyer and registration templates
  • Resources to distribute, such as brochures and flyers
  • Funding ideas and flyer templates for local businesses and potential donors

2. Present BirdSleuth at a Local, Regional, or State Conference

If you have an upcoming conference for science teachers or environmental educators, consider sharing BirdSleuth at your booth or in a presentation!

To fulfill this role, you should be quite familiar with BirdSleuth and the educational resources offered by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.  We can help support you by:

  • Providing a customizable PowerPoint show for your presentation
  • Giving you resources to distribute, such as brochures and flyers
  • Offering advice on workshop topics and staffing a successful booth

3. Hand Out Materials to Your Collegues

Think BirdSleuth is grand, and want to share it with your friends and collegues? Are you a professor who prepares teachers for the classroom and needs to share resources and ideas? Consider spreading the word about BirdSleuth!

We can help support you by sending you BirdSleuth materials such as module flyers, brochures, magnets, handouts on Lab online resources.

If you would like to help us reach other educators through the BirdSleuth Ambassador program, please apply here!  Thank you for your interest; we'll be in touch with you!
