Special fall workshop at the Lab!

Educators—you’re invited to a weekend workshop that will deeply engage you in learning with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology!

The beautiful Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, NY will serve as the backdrop for this unique and fun workshop.

Join BirdSleuth coordinator, Jennifer Fee, for hands-on activities and authentic inquiry experiences, both indoors and out!  You'll learn about citizen science, outdoor teaching, bird diversity and adaptations.  You'll also leave with new ideas and skills that will help you conduct schoolyard inquiry and student investigations!

 

If you enjoy learning in a fun environment with friendly people, you’re going to love this opportunity to gain content knowledge and skills from Lab educators and scientists.  Plus… network with other teachers, get outside, and get a behind-the scenes look at the world-renowned Cornell Lab of Ornithology. You’ll return to school on Monday with renewed energy and ideas you can immediately implement in your classroom!

Dates:  November 21-22, 2009 (Saturday, 10am until Sunday at noon)

Place:   Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Ithaca NY

What you'll receive:

  • BirdSleuth: Most Wanted Birds curriculum kit ($90 value)
  • Active Learning!  Hands-on activities, lectures, bird walks, tours, and independent investigation on Saturday and Sunday
  • All Meals:  catered lunch on Saturday, dinner "out on the town" on Saturday night, and continental breakfast Sunday
  • A certificate specifying 12 hours of continuing education credit
