I am a visiting researcher and a volunteer at the Bioacoustics Research Program. I have been studying marine mammals in India since 2012 and my research has primarily focused on the acoustic communication of coastal cetacean species. I first visited BRP in the fall of 2015 to attend the Sound Analysis Workshop. Following the workshop, I spent a month at BRP to analyse humpback dolphin recordings from the northwestern coast of India.

My current study aims to describe the vocal repertoire of Indian Ocean humpback dolphins and explore behavioral context of acoustic communication. Subsequently, I will use passive acoustic monitoring to study habitat use and spatio-temporal occurrence patterns of this species in areas with a high degree of anthropogenic pressure. Apart from this, I am also interested in outreach and science education. Additionally, I volunteer with the Teach for India program.
