Eubalaena glacialis

Most sounds produced by Northern Right Whales are moans of a frequency below 400 Hz. The illustrations, Figures 1 and 2, below are sound spectrograms of vocalizations from a group of Northern Right Whales,Eubalaena glacialis, recorded on August 19, 1999 in the Bay of Fundy. The group included "Columbine", a 15-year-old female, New England Aquarium Right Whale Consortium catalog number 1408. Because of the loudness of the calls in this recording, the calls appear as harmonics at mutiples of the frequencies of the primary call.
