Raven Lite is a free software program that lets users record, save, and visualize sounds as spectrograms and waveforms. Raven Lite is intended for students, educators, and hobbyists, and can be used for learning about sounds, as an aid in birdsong recognition ,and in musical instruction.
Raven Exhibit is a sound visualization and recording system optimized for public displays and exhibits in places like science museums, zoos, aquaria, and Audubon centers. The Sound Studio is a popular visitor destination at the Visitors Center of the Johnson Center for Birds and Biodiversity (home of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology). Raven Exhibit is the software used in the Sound Studio. Reviewed and praised by exhibit evaluator Beverly Serrell of Serrell & Associates, this software is now available for licensing to other public centers. The user interfaces are simple and effective, making this exhibit one that visitors will use for lengthy periods and will wait in line to use. Raven Viewer provides visual access to the sounds in the Macaulay Library archive, the world's largest collection of recorded animal sounds. Raven Viewer was awarded Second Place in Science magazine's 2006 Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge (Interactive Multimedia category).
