James Grashow

On May 12, at Dana Discovery Center, James Grashow created along with participants, 30 large corrugated birds which were made and painted on the spot. The birds were then placed on poles and the entire flock was marched around in a spontaneous bird parade.
James Grashow is an artist who has done sculpture and environmental installations since the 1960’s. He has shown his work in Galleries and Museums throughout the country. With his most recent exhibition “The Great Monkey Project” where he created one hundred corrugated monkeys for the DeCordova Museum in Massachusetts and his highly evolved show Cardbirds at the Allan Stone Gallery in New York, has established him as one of the premiere artists working with corrugated cardboard today.
James Grashow has taught seminars and conducted cardboard workshops nationally.
With groups ranging from grade school children to senior citizens, he has created projects from corrugated cities to wild undersea aquariums.
The corrugated birds were about 5 feet long with a wing span of 7 feet!
