La Fiesta Early Development Center
La Fiesta Early Development Center is part of the Latin American Community Center, which was founded in 1969.
La Fiesta provides quality, affordable, neighborhood-based early childhood education to children, the vast majority of which are low-income, minority, and reside in an urban community.
At La Fiesta, a special effort is made to take the children to parks and farms so they can
experience the world outside of their neighborhood. Though the children love nature and being outdoors, being in the city makes this challenging.

Storytelling and Bird Mobiles
For La Fiesta's Celebration of Urban Birds, the children will hear a story about birds and make bird mobiles, using cutouts of different bird types. Each child will learn about different the birds by adding a bird to the mobile.
The children and teachers will hang a bird feeder by the school playground and the children will spread "bird food" in the soil perimeter of their playground
At the Celebration we will provide "bird food," i.e. snacks birds would also enjoy, such as raisins, peanut butter, and sunflower seeds.
