202. Jenifer Tinker, Cortland, New York

Originally I did these two pieces of art work for my art class last year. My teacher, Mrs. Andrews always tells us to pick a subject for our art work that interests us so that we don't get bored with it. I chose to do a bluebird because I really enjoy watching and caring for birds, and because they were my great grandfather's favorite kind of bird. I thought that my project would be a good piece to enter in the Art in Birds/Birds in Art contest because it's very unique and I think that birds look the most beautiful in flight.

203. Juliana Powell, Cave Creek, Arizona

Our family went to the Grand Canyon we stopped at one of the overlooks. When we got out of the car, we saw this raven sitting on the barrier between us and the Canyon. It was so pretty...the black raven with the white snow behind it. I didn't think I would be able to get the picture quickly enough, but the raven just sat there as if pausing to look at the splendor of the canyon.

It was very comical before we knew what the cardinal was doing because we would be doing our work and all of a sudden, we would hear this tapping sound at the window. When we went over to the window, we would see the bird suddenly throw itself at the window. It took us quite a while to realize that the cardinal was tapping at his reflection.  I think this picture captures the cardinal's movements in a very artistic manner. The cardinal is framed by the window and everything looks as though the cardinal were just posing in mid- flight.

I was on a walk when I came upon this on the snow. It looked to me to me as if an owl  had  got a mouse for lunch.  OWL ART.  OR A OWL ANGEL.

205. Lincoln Tesluk, Collierville, Tennessee

I am ten years old and I like taking outdoor pictures with my own digital camera.  It has 10X optical zoom so it lets me see up close to birds.

Attached is a bald eagle picture I drew when I was a youngster.

Also attached are hummingbird pictures that are good because they were taken in my own backyard here in Collierville, TN.

206. Fran Cumbow, Covington, Indiana

As I was leaving our Fountain County Courthouse this winter, I happened to see this lone, maybe hopeful of spring, robin sitting in the snowy crab apple tree singing a cheerful song.  I called to him to wait and getting my camera took this picture as he obligingly posed for me.

Please see my attached photos as my entry in the Art in Birds contest as well as my inspiration for the photos which can best be described in photos themselves, my grandchildren. We spent Martin Luther King, Jr. Day out of school crafting pine cone bird feeders and hung them in a tree in our yard. As I watch the birds feed on them daily I enjoy the day with my grandchildren all over again.

208. Martha Berg, Roscoe, Illinois

The home I live in now is in northern Illinois, just south of the Wisconsin border.  It has a small wooded area right behind the fence in our backyard.  I have two feeders that attract a number of different species of birds including Downy and Red-bellied woodpeckers, finches and doves, which are all in the pictures I have submitted.  I never tire of watching these amazing creatures, noting their habits and "personalities".  The doves, for example, don't appear to like snow, so during the winter they perch on my fence or in the trees.  The picture of the dove I have included, is indicative of their behavior when the ground is covered in snow.  This dove perched on the fence and appeared to be trying to stay as warm as possible in the sunshine on what was a very cold winter day this past January.  The woodpeckers feed from the trees or my feeders and the finches love the tube feeder - even during heavy snows, like the ones in the picture.  I recently took up photography as a hobby and have taken lots of pictures of wildlife right in my own backyard.  I am amazed at how close I can get to some of the birds so that I can capture their beauty with a photo.

209. Janet Pauley, Loves Park, Illinois

I am submitting this entry into the Art in Birds/Birds in Art Contest because I see God's hand in creation in birds. I've been an avid bird watcher, bird photographer, and bird student for many years. But this glimpse of a downy woodpecker reminds me of the freedom that God has given me in Christ.
