Bingaman and Son Lumber tries to give back to our community by participating in the adopt a class program at the Selinsgrove Intermediate school in Selinsgrove PA.  

Our 4^th grade class gets educated on the business of Bingaman and Son Lumber. For example, the differences and uses of hardwood versus softwood trees, manufacturing keys and conservation with forestry.  

We meet with the class 5 or so times a year and during the forestry portion we discuss how landowners can manage their lands to attract wildlife (mostly for hunting) and conserve our natural resources and help our endangered species. 

About 6 years ago one of our employees asked about the adopt a classroom program and offered to help by presenting a program on Bluebirds – their habits and things that could be done by even 4^th graders to help the Eastern Bluebird remain in our communities. 

 A 15 to 20 minute presentation is given and then each and every student makes a Bluebird box (from a kit we have put together at Bingaman and Son Lumber).  It is a wonderful time and we have sent out into the community 130+ Bluebird houses.
