Wings over Wascana (WOW) Nature Festival is held in Wascana Centre each
May on International Migratory Bird Day. Wascana Centre is one of the largest urban parks in North America and includes a special area that is designated a Federal Migratory Bird Sanctuary.Each year festival co-hosts offer a wide array of free programs and activities to school groups and the general public in celebration of wetlands and wildlife. In 2008, festival organizers are proud to include a program to Celebrate Urban Birds! Other programs offered are live animal presentations, star gazing, guided nature hikes, earth songs, owl pellet dissections, bird house building, pond dipping, bird banding, geocaching, scavenger hunts, kite flying, bird watching, nature crafts, water critters, bird counts, eco-displays, games, mascots, face painting, and more!
