LA Mural Complete

This mural is in a very urban and gritty area of Hollywood (my neighborhood!) as you can see. It is the kind of place you do not think of when you think of wildlife. Yet since moving here I am astonished that there are many birds that are here too. Regular visitors when I was doing the mural were the black phoebe and the yellow chevroned parakeet and one day the red tailed hawk. So I hoped in pointing out that different birds live in the neighborhood others would start to see them too. I am unsure if it led directly to people participating in the count but it started a lot of conversation on the street about birds.

The mural includes facts about birds, their names and wingspans. The text is in english and spanish as it is a very hispanic area. Next year I will get an earlier start and give out bird count lists for another bird mural. I hope you don't mind, I am forwarding in some additional emails close-ups of the mural.
