Celebrate in the Park!

"Celebrate Urban Birds!" at Dana Discovery Center May 12th
This exciting event was a joint collaboration between Central Park Conservancy, Cornell Cooperative Extension in NYC, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The day included:
- a demonstration with live raptors…falcons, owls and hawks,
- public arts project and mural creation involving Harlem youth from TRUCE and college students from the New School led by artist Youme Landowne,
- creation of cardboard bird sculptures by artist Jimmy Grashow put together and painted by participants,
- bird walks and data collection led by members of the Central Park Conservancy,
- Birds of Central Park book signing by Cal Vornberger,
- workshop on native bird habitat in New York City by Solar One, and
- a dynamic dance performance, "Field Guide" by Kristin McArdle and dancers.
Dana Discovery Center is located inside the Park at Central Park North (110th Street) between Fifth Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard (Lenox Avenue) Subway: #6 to 110th St.; #2/3 to Central Park North at 110th St.
