McArdle

 'Field Guide'

Kristin McArdle and dancers created an original dance piece for Celebrate Urban Birds! in Central Park.  The choreography mimicked the staccato movements of the killdeer, the ubiquitous one-leg stand of the heron and egret, the darting head and eyes of the neighborhood robin, the dance of color in the oriole's wings, the mating rituals of 'bird spring', the phenomenal aerodynamics of the peregrine falcon and the complex flight patterns seen during the winged migration.

The piece was such a success that a repeat performance took place at THE 12TH ANNUAL LOWER EAST SIDE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS on Saturday, May 26 in the Johnson Theater at the Theater for the New City.

Kristin McArdle and Dancers are also currently working on 'Aqua De Fado - Fate of Deep Blue: A Dance / Ocean Conservation Project'. The Aqua De Fado Project utilizes the visual and emotional power of the performing arts to aid local and international marine conservation organizations in their effort to educate local seafood restaurants about the positive role they can play in sustaining healthy fish populations. The objective of the NYC project is to provide an integrated evening program of dance performance with live music and short lectures in marine conservation focusing on the environmental and economic benefits of selling sustainably caught seafood in local SoHo restaurants, fostering marine education and involving local communities in conservation efforts. The Aqua De Fado Project is a collaboration between: The Coastal Marine Resource Center of New York (CMRC), Dr. John Waldman, Professor of Biology at Queens College, CUNY, and local business partner, Patagonia (SoHo).
