I would like to share the following information on birds with you. We've seen these birds in our garden in Koswatte almost every day, since September/October 2008.
We attract birds into our garden by offering food trays (mainly fruits, grains and scraped coconut) in three different places in the garden. There's also a tiny, open bird house for them to eat and rest and a place to bathe.
Red-vented Bulbul - 3-4 - every day/several times of the day
Common Babblers - 6-15 - every day - morning/afternoon/evening
Oriental Magpie-robin -1 rarely seen
Rose-ringed Parakeet 3--7 - almost everyday - till the mangoes are over
Tailor Bird ââ 22-3 - everyday- few times a day
Common Myna - 2 - everyday - morning/noon
Asian Koel -2 (male and female species) - almost every day
Sunbird 2-3 -everyyday
White-breasted Kingfisher - 1 - a few times a week - mostly early in the morning
Spotted Dove - 2 to 4 - everyday - a few times a day
Red-backed Woodpecker -2 - almost every day - late morning/noon
White-bellied Drongo – 2--3- almost every day - morning and evening
Barbets - 1 - everyday - morning and noon
Brown flycatcher 2 (male and female species) - male bird about three times a week - female bird everyday
Black-hooded Oriole - 2 - everyday - morning/noon/evening
Forest wagtail ââ 1-2 - everyday -
Greater Coucal - 1- once a week
White Breasted Water hen - 1 - few times a month
Indian pond heron - 1 - almost everyday
House crow - 2 - a few times a month
Another bird with a brown body and black dotted breast/belly) 1 - few times in November
