I can't be sure when I started being so interested in birds; it's just the kind of thing that has developed over the years. You make a wooden feeder as a kid, maybe buy one or two on sale to make the garden look nice, and before long I found myself looking at what I had and what I could do to attract new species. I never could have imagined the things a thistle feeder would bring around, and every time I think I've identified every bird in my garden something new pops up, like just recently I noticed one Lincoln's Sparrow rooting around with all the White-crowned Sparrows. I would be honored to help out in any way, whether for Project Feederwatch or Celebrate Urban Birds. I try to paint as much as possible, and it's pretty much always birds, my art teacher even made fun of me once for it.
I did some horses once, but it just isn't as interesting, especially if I'm painting from one of my own photographs. The photos are really just a way for me to get outside and enjoy birds, as well as an artistic outlet, I haven't had much time for painting lately, with school and all, but I get enough satisfaction just sitting out every now and then with my birds. I'd especially like to do a painting of all the species that visit my thistle socks, people just can't understand how beautiful it is to see all the motion and different birds together.
