Cornell Cooperative Extension, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and Central Park Conservancy celebrated urban birds at the Harlem Meer and Dana Discovery Center on May 12th.
Celebrate Urban Birds at Central Park on May 12!
Cornell Cooperative Extension in New York City and the Lab of Ornithology teamed up to create our main celebratory event in New York City. It took place in Central Park on Saturday, May 12th from 12pm until 4pm in collaboration with Central Park Conservancy.
The public celebrated urban birds at the Harlem Meer and Dana Discovery Center and participated in event activities that included:
- a dynamic dance performance by Kristin McArdle and Dancers
- public arts project by James Grashow

- live raptor demonstration by New York Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center

- workshop on native bird habitat in New York City by Solar One

- and bird walks and data collection, bird book signing by Carl Vornberger, activities by Central Park Conservancy, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and Cornell Cooperative Extension-NYC.
This was free public event for all ages.
