Project
Objectives
Identify
important populations of Cerulean Warblers in each state, and determine the status of
these populations. How many pairs exist overall? Are they reproducing
successfully? Are there local threats to the population? Are populations
expanding or declining?
Determine
the range of acceptable habitats and area requirements. We will measure habitat
structure, landscape characteristics of occupied sites, nest-site characteristics,
estimate densities in different forest types, and attempt to estimate productivity.
Identify
suites of bird and plant species associated with Cerulean Warblers and examine how they
vary across the Northeast.
Set
population and habitat goals for states and physiographic areas as part of the regional
PIF planning process.
Produce
a "how to" manual of habitat management strategies for areas having (or
potentially supporting) Cerulean Warblers.
The final report,
"An Atlas of Cerulean Warbler Populations," is now
complete and has been submitted to the USFWS.
