Rick is co-founder of the Citizen Science program at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, where he has worked since 1983. Tina specializes in the development, guidance, and evaluation of educational outcomes from citizen science projects. Matthew works with Tina Phillips on the DEVISE project. His interests include using qualitative analysis and participatory research methods to find locally appropriate solutions to environmental challenges. His evaluation background stems from work with NGOs in Indonesia and Malaysia, studying the social dynamics and impacts of community-based development projects. Matthew served as a Fulbright fellow in West Java, Indonesia, researching the social consequences of oil palm plantation expansion.

Norman collaborates with Tina Phillips on the DEVISE project, and is Project Leader for a Noyce Foundation funded initiative to design program evaluation instruments for cultural sensitivity. Norman received his MS and PhD from Cornell University and a BA in Sociology and Film Studies from UC Santa Barbara. His research has focused on bridging research in communication and social psychology which addresses the relationships between human motivation, attention, beliefs, attitudes, and decision making in the context of different types of mediated messages (e.g. health, entertainment).
