Conference on Public Participation in Scientific Research
The first large-scale, open conference on public participation in scientific research. This two-day event will be held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Portland, Oregon, August 4th & 5th, 2012, but aims to integrate insights from many diverse disciplines and research contexts.

The Southeastern Association for Science Teacher Education Conference bears this theme for 2011. The event is sponsored by the University of Georgia, and will be held on the University's campus October 14th & 15th, 2011.
Citizen Science Symposium: Connecting Communities with the Natural World
May 12th & 13th, 2011, at the University of Maine in Orono. The symposium shared information acquired through environmental research and programs where citizen science and community-based monitoring have been applied to increase opportunities for scientific data collection and other outcomes. Presentation abstracts now available.
Enhancing Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental Stewardship through Public Participation in Scientific Research
Conversations continue following an April 7 & 8, 2011, workshop in New York City, discussing new strategies for conservation through citizen science and other forms of public participation in scientific research. Workshop summaries and proceedings are now available, and input is still encouraged.
2007
Citizen Science Toolkit Conference
In June of 2007, scientists, educators, technology specialists, and other experts of varied backgrounds, gathered at the Laboratory of Ornithology in Ithaca, NY, to discuss how to best support new and existing projects. Ideas generated during the conference were used to develop the Citizen Science Toolkit, and are now inspiring a broader conversation about collaborative research ventures.
