NOW OPEN! Late-breaking call for posters - deadline 9 JULY 2012. Join over 150 other poster presenters in sharing ideas to advance this growing field!
With the rapid growth and innovation of public participation in scientific research (PPSR), practitioners are in need of a venue for sharing insights across projects and fields of study. This landmark event will convene science researchers, project leaders, educators, technology specialists, evaluators, and others from across many disciplines (including astronomy, molecular biology, human and environmental health, and ecology) to discuss advancing the field of PPSR. The PPSR Conference is being held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America (ESA), a venue that has long been supportive of citizen science and that always welcomes practitioners from diverse fields. We hope that all who are interested in the future of the field of PPSR will join us this August!

Following the lead of the high-profile and well-respected American Geophysical Union conference, the “currency” of this event will be posters, with three sessions to do justice to the breadth of work and ideas in this field. These sessions will encourage deep engagement, networking and discussion. To lay the groundwork for conversations spanning disciplines and traditions, there will be four plenary sessions of invited speakers whose work points to the history, diversity, and innovations across the field of PPSR.
The culminating event of the conference – which will both inspire and depend upon the participation of all attendees – will be an open meeting to explore strategies for large-scale collaborations to support and advance work across this field of practice. If you are invested in the future of this field, please join us to weigh in on proposed ideas that may include the development of an association for PPSR.
This conference is coming together thanks to the efforts of many individuals and institutions. See a full list of co-organizers, advisors, and supporters.
