Betty Dunckel

Center Director and Associate Scientist at the Florida Museum of Natural History

Betty A. Dunckel has worked in informal science education settings for 30+ years. She is Center Director/Associate Scientist for the Center for Informal Science Education at the Florida Museum of Natural History. She has developed numerous programs that promote science interest and understanding for diverse audiences, and also works with exhibit development, visitor research, and program and exhibit evaluation. Dunckel is PI/PD for Project Butterfly WINGS: Winning Investigative Network for Great Science, a citizen science project. Funded in part by the

National Science Foundation (ESI-0406173), WINGS engages 4-H youth in grades 4-8 in the study of butterflies. Dunckel received her Ph.D. in science education from the University of Florida.

Citizen science, volunteer monitoring, participatory action research... this site supports organizers of all initiatives where public participants are involved in scientific research.
