From 'CITIZEN Science' to 'Citizen SCIENCE'

A fundamental problem with citizen science is that it is not always possible to validate observations, especially when dealing with vast quantities of data collected by large numbers of citizens. An evaluation system that tests the reliability of observers may make it possible to validate their observations. The quality of data can also be improved by using PDA/GPS tools with efficient user interface design. Electronic Field Guides with Species Filter tools may further increase the reliability of data. Automatic GPS Timer Points make it possible to accurately measure the Effort, which in turn makes it possible to generate a reliable Index of Abundance.
