Mike’s college experiences lead to a career goal of coordinating the efforts of professional scientists and the general public, though at the outset he was unaware of the term “citizen science.” After participating in various research projects from the grasslands of the Midwest to the rainforests of Puerto Rico to the hardwood forests of New England, including earning a Master’s degree in Zoology (University of Arkansas, 1997), he first entered the CLO as a Project Assistant for The Birdhouse Network in 2000. Since that time he served as |
| the project leader for eBird, a real-time, online checklist program to track birds across North America. Currently Mike is involved with acoustic monitoring projects, including the search for the Ivory-billed Woodpecker and tracking nocturnal migration. |
