Dr. Alycia W. Crall recently completed a PhD within the Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her dissertation research focused on the development and evaluation of a national citizen science program for invasive species. She received an award from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in 2007 for “Outstanding Achievements in Citizen-Based Monitoring” and the state of Wisconsin in 2010 as an “Invader Crusader” for her work. She currently works as a research associate for Colorado State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison while living in Charlottesville, VA. She continues to serve as the coordinator for the National Institute of Invasive Species Science (NIISS) citizen science program ( and facilitates networking with local, state, and federal organizations to improve invasive species data collection and sharing among diverse stakeholders. Broad research interests include: citizen science; conservation biology; invasive species ecology; informal science education; and cyberinfrastructure/data management.
