Andres Gomez

Andrés Gómez is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation at the American Museum of Natural History. A veterinarian, his research has focused on understanding health in an ecological context, and on the applications of disease ecology in conservation biology. His past research work has included understanding the transmission dynamics of West Nile virus in wild mammal communities, researching the impacts of land use change in the Amazon and its relationship to changes in mosquito communities, and summarizing the ecological roles of pathogens and parasites as a first step in considering their potential value as conservation targets.
