Latest Volunteer Monitor released
Issue reflects on the Toolkit conference and different approaches to volunteer-based research.
Among other topics, the Summer 2008 issue of The Volunteer Monitor
tackles some of the toughest issues raised at the 2007 Citizen Science Toolkit Conference. In the cover article, Editor Eleanor Ely looks at the design differences between "top-down" and "bottom-up" projects, touching on the strengths and drawbacks of either approach to volunteer-based research.
Other articles discuss strategies for publishing in scientific journals, ways to enjoyably integrate science and monitoring, and motivating volunteers to take action.
