(From the news e-list,11 NOV 2013. Interested in subscribing? Click here!)

Good morning,

This week's discussion on policies and citizen science is now open!

The conversation will cover user agreements, privacy policies, terms of use, and more. According to co-hosts Anne Bowser and Lea Shanley,

"The goal of this forum is to help projects untangle the data policy puzzle, to understand how different policies fit together, and which policies are most appropriate for their goals and methods."

The discussion complements the new data policy resources on CitizenScience.org, including a short Data Policy Primer by co-host Anne Bowser.

Both questions and good examples are sought, to help explore how data are handled, managed, and affected by laws and regulations. This is an important area that hasn't yet received enough attention in this field, so please join Anne, Lea, and others to share thoughts, questions and ideas.
