Discussion on publishing and peer-review of citizen science research

Caren Cooper (Cornell Lab of Ornithology) and Sue Silver (Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment) co-host a discussion about the challenges of publishing and funding research in the citizen science world.

(From the e-list, 6/6/2013. Interested in subscribing? Click here!)

Join us as we kick off the first of our 2013 discussions! We’re beginning with a conversation, hosted by Caren Cooper and Sue Silver, aimed at learning more about the experience of publishing and funding research in the growing field of citizen science. Presenting citizen data and contributions stemming from research about citizen science can be challenging, especially with the varied perceptions of the field.

We’d like to hear about your experiences with peer-review publishing, and the insights you’ve gained as a result. Hopefully we can have a great discussion that results in some shared strategies relevant to peer-review issues unique to citizen science.

Share your thoughts on the forum starting next Wednesday! This will be a weeklong discussion, open from 6/12 – 6/19. Make sure you also check out last November’s lively discussion on technology in citizen science!
