New discussion-based listserv

UPDATE 22 MARCH 2013: Join a new discussion-based listserv to share ideas about citizen science and public participation in scientific research.

(From the e-list, 22 MARCH 2013. Interested in subscribing? Click here!)

With spring in the air (or at least on the calendar) I hope you'll forgive me a seasonal analogy to share some exciting news...

Late last summer, seeds were planted. At the August PPSR Conference held in Portland, Oregon, almost 300 people gathered to share enthusiasm and ideas for building a field of practice for citizen science/PPSR. Working groups met, and many inspiring ideas we sown - check some out as Tweets via SlideShare (or in plain text) that are guiding the growth of this field.

Over the winter,  groundwork was laid. While winter often seems quiet, it's a time for making preparations, readying platforms to support the growth of germinating ideas. One of those platforms -  in response to the number-one request we heard via conference evaluations - is a new discussion-based listserv to share ideas and updates with peers in this field.

With the arrival of spring, it's time to grow! Now is the time to start those field-building conversations - share and find innovative project strategies, platforms, and technologies, as well as grants, jobs, conferences, and publications. The conversations will grow as the list grows towards a critical mass of peers, and towards broader perspectives on the field.

There is much work to be done, and there will be many conversations to follow (here and on other platforms)... add your voice, or just tune in to watch things grow. I'm excited to see where our collective ideas lead!

Tilling the soil,

~~Jennifer
