About the Toolkit

The Toolkit is an adaptive and evolving resource, which will grow as this community grows.

As a starting point, we offer thoughts from the Citizen Science Toolkit Conference. The guided discussions of five working groups resulted in white paper reports, which now form the core of the Toolkit... distilled into key points, ideas, and resources.

Given the diverse projects represented at the conference, the contents of the Toolkit represent a range of approaches to engaging scientists and volunteers. As such, these ideas may advance the field both through practical program support and through philosophical debate. And although ideas are broad, they are not (yet!) comprehensive. Add your knowledge to the mix through our discussion-based listserv.

For now, please browse through our user's Manual and list of Steps, or start from the very beginning...

Citizen science, volunteer monitoring, participatory action research... this site supports organizers of all initiatives where public participants are involved in scientific research.
