Choose a Question: How-to

How to approach choosing a question or issue for a project.

Keep volunteers in mind:

  • be familiar with the volunteers you are targeting
  • choose a topic and question of interest to participants
  • ask the community, "what is needed? what can we help with?"

Think ahead to protocols:

  • choose a question in conjunction with appropriate protocols
  • know the abilities, interests, and limitations of your volunteers

If you have room for creativity:

  • "piggy-back" on existing projects
  • be flexible, responsive, and opportunistic

Have any How-to ideas for this step?  Soon you will be able to share them through our discussion forum.
