Studying birds at Cornell
Cornell has been an excellent place to study birds ever since Arthur A. Allen was appointed one of the nation's first professors of ornithology at the University in 1917. While the Lab of Ornithology is a nonacademic unit of Cornell and does not award degrees, students can study birds through many of the University's excellent divisions and departments including biology, natural resources, pyschology, and the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Most faculty at the Lab of Ornithology teach courses and advise graduate students in one of these other units. If you wish to study ornithology at Cornell, please contact the department or faculty member whose activities match your interests. Potential graduate students should also contact the graduate field representative for each section or department.
