Ravi Brar

Ravi Brar (Cornell 2005) is working with Sandy Vehrencamp on the genetic mating system of the Banded Wren (Thryothorus pleurostictus). Ravi is currently isolating and optimizing a new set of microsatellite markers for this species that will be used to determine parentage in a population of wrens in Costa Rica. This study population has been the subject of intensive behavioral work by Dr. Vehrencamp and her colleagues in the Lab's Bioacoustics group. Information about how parents and offspring are related will help explain why and how individuals in this population interact.
