The workshop is organized into morning and afternoon sections. The morning section will focus on describing eBird data, from collection to the data products and how to manipulate them. There will be a lunch break and following lunch, we will discuss several applications using eBird data.  The exact times are provisional, and to the extent that we can we will be adapting on the fly to your interests although we do want to cover all of the topics listed before 4 PM.

Morning Data Description 8:00-11:30

8:00 – 9:00: A day in the life of an eBird datum: from data collection to quality-control processes and into the publicly available data products.

9:00 – 9:15: Break

9:15 – 11:00: Extracting Data from the eBird Data Products. Hands on practice with the eBird Basic Dataset (EBD) and the eBird Reference Dataset (ERD).

11:00 – 11:30: Questions and Follow-up

11:30 – 12:30: Lunch – On your own.
