White-breasted Nuthatch Calls

Bioacoustics researchers must rule out whether the sounds on recordings could have been made by other bird species. At close range, the Ivory-billed Woodpecker's call is clearly more robust than the call of a White-breasted Nuthatch. However, the autonomous recording units often pick up the sounds of distant birds. In those cases, it may be more difficult to distinguish the calls of the two species.
