Now the Macaulay LibraryFormerly the Library of Natural Sounds
Lab director John Fitzpatrick and library namesake Linda Macaulay celebrate the opening of the new Macaulay Library facility. An ambitious capital campaign begun in 2000 financed the Lab of Ornithology's move into a new building in 2003. This new space included generous room for the Library of Natural Sounds. Linda and William (Bill) Macaulay made a significant contribution to the campaign, which helped finance custom-built studios, fiber-optic connectivity, and an atmospherically controlled deep archive for the collection. Linda Macaulay took the Lab of Ornithology's Sound Recording Workshop and has been one of the most productive and talented contributors to the sound collection. As a result of her and Bill's many contributions, the archival facility was named the Macaulay Library. |
