I just looked in on the Bluebirds and one baby is left. Looks like it is getting up enough courage to "fly the coop".
This was my first year in attempting to get Bluebirds to nest in my box and I was very fortunate to have the parents have two clutches. The last clutch just fledged about a week ago. With both clutches I was able to see them fledge and both did so around 6:00 in the evening. The parents again are guarding the nestbox and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a 3rd brood.

Hi I have a pair of blues that were nesting in a box and I looked in and saw the baby - their is only one. Why and no other eggs. This morning I found a baby on the ground dead. I am sick about it. Would another bird go in and take it out? I have seen sparrows around the house.

I live in northern North Carolina and a pair of bluebirds have started their third brood in my box. So far the pair have fledged 4 in the first brood and 3 in the second. All of which are alive now. I often see all 7 of them flying around and chasing each other. In previous years the male would often chase the fledglings out of his territory when the female started building another nest, but for some reason not this year. I wonder if it could be because all 7 of the fledglings are female. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I just wanted some feedback from anyone with experience with blue bird nests. I have a blue bird nest box, we were out of town. When I came back male, female and another female watchng were working on the nest. They saw me standing in the drive-way, but also I refilled the hummingbird feeder near the tree where nest box is. I have since moved the hummingbird feeder. Do you think they stopped building the nest because they saw me, or the hummmingbord feeder? I was so excited it was the first time after 2 years blue birds were building there. Also the box was about 10 ft. high when they were building. We have since lowered to about 6 feet as the info stated. Any help would be appreciated, and do I clean out the nest material now or waite till fall? By the way we did not move the box down until about a week after they stopped visiting the box. Nancy

I have seen bluebirds tht appear to be making a nest in a bluebird house in my yard in Connecticut. I thought it was late in the season (6/23/06)for them to be starting out. Is it?

What beautiful pictures of the nestbox with the mom sitting on the eggs. The color and clarity is absolutely wonderful. Thank you for these wonderful shots.
I have 5 BB eggs ready to hatch either tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday. This is the pairs second clutch. The first ones (5) fledged on May 8th and are now coming into the yard and snacking on mealy worms and sunflower chips. What fun to watch them fight over the worms.
Thanks again for the cam shots.
