I think the camera has been damaged
before daylight ?
04/20/06 10:44
The non-picture seems to be before daylight
at 5:09;45 AM, on 4-19-06. The camera does not have lighting to operate at night.

We have not been able to trouble-shoot this non-picture
problem because the computer/TV person that is competent to take care of this problem is out of town.

Thanks for your patience, Bill Freels, volunteer,

I have a pair that nest in my yard, the babies have fledged a few days ago, but hte parents are already building another nest, does this mean the babies didn't make it...I put meal worms out and did see the parents continue to feed but with heavy rain I am worried..I also noticed a male robin pecked on of the babies but I did stop him, he only got in one peck..but I am worried they didn't make it, I have never seen the adults build another nest so fast after only 4-5 days since the babies fledged..

I just saw an image of both the male and female in the box together feeding the chicks. I have never seen both of a pair go inside together in my boxes to feed the young.

It's 6:33PM EST and momma hen finally left to go eat and left the nest open. There are no eggs left, so all 4 must have hatched! Now we get to watch all the fun as they grow up!

What am I seeing?
04/01/06 09:31
I see 3 blue eggs, an orange blotch on the bottom and a dark blotch on top. Is the orange blotch a hatchling?
Just wondering

can you tell us why the screen on the Live camera is blackened out a lot of the time?

I have a camera in a bluebird nest at my house. The female had been incubating four eggs for seven days until today. This morning I never saw her on the eggs. Then i looked out and saw her on a neighbor's gutter with a puncture wound on her throat. I then watched her fly to a nearby woods and die. Not a good way to start the season. I hope this nest doesnt have the same fate.

Are You sure the eggs will hatch? If they don't will the female lay another clutch of eggs? Why didn't the female wait until the cold weather to lay the eggs?
so sad!

My sons and I have been waiting with you in anticipation of the hatching of the eggs. We were so excited to see the change this morning, thinking an egg had hatched...so sorry for the loss. We will continue to watch and wait.

I thank everyone involved in this project. It is so important to teach children about wildlife/nature.
I wish Heath Elementary would sign up with National Wildlife Federation for a school habitat.

I have a completed bluebird clutch in my yard of only three eggs. How unusual is that for a first nesting of the season.

I have a bluebird nest here in northern North Carolina that has been completed for a week.I think the female is waiting to lay her eggs until after the cold weather leaves. I hope everything goes well for my nest and this one.
cold killing eggs
03/21/06 11:45
The temps will be in the 20s for the next few nights.
This low temp will most likely kill the eggs.
It has been so cold and wet that the eggs possibly are already dead. Let's hope fror the best,Bill Freels
